I/O error accessing: Handle is invalid
Hi folks,I'm having occasional issues with Windows 7 beta (64-bit) that I'm having a difficult time resolving. Something is altering the permissions such that I can no longer access the files. When I pull up the permissions, Everyone has the right permissions, but the other two permissions have user names:S-1-5-21-57989841-2146.....S-1-5-21-57989841-2146.....
I've run a full chkdsk, and tried to take ownership, but to no avail.Any suggestions?TIAMikeMike Crowe

Who owns those SID's? Try this to find out:
Start the registry editor
Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Select each SID under this in turn and look at the ProfileImagePath and at the end of this string is the name of the user
Close the registry editor - John

Are you dual booting? If so, those are the SIDs to user or system accounts of you other Windows OS.

Right-click the files or folder in question and select properties. Click the security tab followed by the Advanced button. Click the owner tab followed by the Edit button. Acknowledge the UAC prompt and add your user account as the owner making sure you click the Replace owner on subcontainers and objects option. Click OK and provide affirmative acknowledgement to all dialog boxes until you are back to the desktop. Once again, right click the files or folder in question, select properties, click on the security tab followed by clicking the Edit button. Add you your account to have full permissions to the files and folder in question. Do not remove the SIDs from your other OS as you then create the same problem on that side. Let us know if that worked or if you need more detail.
